The Shul Hall was laid out beautifully, the food was prepared and ready to go, the brochures and menus had been printed out and tickets had been sold out for weeks.
The only problem… the weather! It snowed, not a great deal, but we know in this country, any snow means the traffic grinds to a stand still. So it happened last Sunday, and unfortunately Chief Rabbi Mirvis’ security team advised him not to travel. Us stalwarts here at SWHC were not going to let it stop us. We went ahead with the “Grand Luncheon” and the Chief Rabbi gave an address via Skype! The wonders of modern technology. With the speakers wired up and the Skype window projected onto a screen, he was larger than life and gave a lovely address to those present.
